WELCOME - IMPORTANT RACE DAY INFORMATION

Thank you for joining us at our Barclays Knutsford 10K 2023, we can't wait for you to have a fantastic race on this flat and fast course!

RACE START INFORMATION
The race starts within the grounds of Barclays Radbroke Campus, where Race HQ is situated.  Please note Race HQ and the start are within 800 metres of all parking for your convenience.

RACE HQ
Barclays Radbroke Technology Centre
Knutsford
WA16 9EU

Race start time: 9:30am

Race HQ is in Barclays Radbroke Technology Centre and will be open from 7:15am. Within this area you will find the number collection, bag drop, sports massage and much more!

Whilst you’re at Radbroke for the Knutsford 10k you will see some significant areas of the campus are being redeveloped.  Barclays is currently progressing a major investment in the site to deliver a world-class facility for its colleagues to connect, collaborate and work – which will see wholesale changes to the building configuration and workspaces on the campus, and an increase in the amount of green spaces.  Please take extra care and avoid taking shortcuts through any restricted areas that are closed for the building works but be assured this won't affect your race day experience in any way.

Please note that due to the campus redevelopment works we don’t recommend children come to the event this year as spectators, and they must not be left unsupervised on the site.

Please make sure you are prepared, warmed up and on the start line by 9:20am to catch the important pre-race briefing. It is imperative that everyone listens to the briefing, we kindly request your attention so that all runners can hear important information. Announcements will be made throughout the morning by the race commentator.

If you have any questions that are not answered within the booklet, please contact us via email run@runnorthwest.co.uk

Thank you for choosing a Run North West Race!
TRAVEL TO THE RACE

Bike
There are bike storage racks situated around the Radbroke Campus.

Public Transport
The closest train station/tram stop (on foot) to Race HQ is Knutsford (2.6 miles) but sadly there are no Sunday services running which would get you to the event on time.

Car and parking facilities
Where possible please car share 🚗 to ease congestion, traffic and help save the environment 🌍!

There is ample FREE parking within the grounds of the Barclays Radbroke campus. We have ironed out the parking delays of the first year as we have now agreed special permission to have two entrances and exits this year to ensure we don't have the same delays.

Postcode WA16 9EU will lead you to the entrances.  Marshals will be available to direct you to a carparking space.

Race numbers are now available for advance collection from our Run North West Wilmslow Store (2 St Ann's Parade. TRANSFERS
If you can no longer make the race and wish to transfer your entry to someone else you can do this via your original confirmation email or through your nifty entry log-in.  Transfers are free of charge and any monies transferring hands needs to be a direct agreement between the two parties. If you transfer your number after collecting it from our store then please note you will need to give the number to the person you have transferred it to.  Please be very careful if buying or selling an entry on social media as sadly some scams do occur.

Please note as per the terms and conditions of entry, we do not offer refunds or transfers to other races due to the upfront costs of each event.

VIRTUAL RACE OPTION

If you would prefer to run the Knutsford 10K virtually, we have created a virtual option to allow you to still get involved if you can't be there on race day. Run a 10K in your own time and in a location of your choice, and earn yourself our iconic medal!

To switch your entry to the virtual race, please go to your confirmation email and click on the transfer button.  You will then be given the option to transfer your entry to the virtual or another person if you would prefer to do this.  You can also access the transfer function via the nifty event page where there is a transfer entry button to the right of the screen.

PLEASE NOTE: If you take the option to transfer into the virtual race, you will NOT have an entry to run the 2023 Knutsford 10K. This virtual option is INSTEAD of joining us on race day.

If you have any family and friends that would like to do the race virtually and earn our autumnal themed medal, they can do so here for only £10:

KNUTSFORD 10K VIRTUAL RACE ENTRY

NUMBERS
Numbers must be attached to the front of your vest, please do not fold/cut/deface it in anyway. The timing chip is attached to the back of your number and is detected when you cross the start and the finish. Please do not run around the outside of the mat area or your time will not be recorded.

Please also take the time to fill in your emergency contact details on the reverse of the number prior to running, in the unfortunate event of an emergency, these can help medics to treat you swiftly and appropriately.

Please DO NOT run in someone else’s number as it is against UKA rules, it can cause problems with the results and could also cause a lot of distress should there be an incident and the wrong family is contacted.

TOILETS
There are plenty of portable toilets within Race HQ which will be well sign posted, please look out for these signs.

COURSE
The race starts and finishes in the same location, within the grounds of Barclays Radbroke Technology Centre, then heads out onto the country lanes of Over Peover, Snelson and Peover Heath, before returning to Barclays Radbroke campus. The race is run on beautiful country lanes, all fully closed to traffic, we believe this will prove to be one of the fastest 10K races in the North West, with only 23 metres of elevation across the entire course. The course overall is super flat with a modest incline at around 2K but then the course drifts down hill from 6K-8K. The rest is pancake flat.  Please see below the elevation chart for the race.

This race is run on fully closed roads. The course has been measured and is certified to be an accurate 10K course | course number 19/595.

PACERS
We have pacers every 2.5 minutes from 35 minutes through to 70 minutes plus 75 and 80 minutes, offering the opportunity to chase down even more PBs, good luck!

MUSIC PLAYERS/HEADPHONES
We strongly advise against the use of personal music players or headphones during the race, as this can restrict your ability to hear safety instructions from marshals or unexpected events.

MEDICAL SERVICES
First aid is situated at various points along the course. Should you feel unwell during the race please let your nearest marshal know so we can arrange for medics to get to you as soon as possible. If you come across anyone injured or in distress, please report it to the nearest marshal who will be in contact with our event team and our first aid providers. First aid is also available at the start and finish areas.

Please also fill in your personal details section on the reverse of your race number. This greatly assists the medical staff, should you require first aid or medical treatment!

ECO WATER 🌍🥤
In a conscious effort to reduce our carbon footprint and do our bit to for the planet, we have introduced a bring your own water bottle (pre-filled) to be dropped off at Race HQ and the bottles will be waiting for you at the finish line. Completely optional, but every person who brings their own bottle of water is helping to save the planet one small step at a time.

Bottled water will be provided, as usual, for anyone who doesn’t bring their own. We do use a responsible supplier for our water (as well as being ZERO to landfill), their bottles are made out of recycled plastic and are 100% recyclable. Water will be available at the half-way point of the race and at the finish line.

Its important that you either hand your empty bottles back to us before you leave the finish area or take the bottle home with you to recycle.

If you'd like to view our environmental policy please click here.

BAG DROP
Where possible please leave your belongings in your cars. We have a limited bag drop for anyone cycling or coming by public transport to the race.

OFFICIAL RACE CHARITY PARTNER

Our official race charity partner is DKMS, a charity dedicated to fight against blood cancer and blood disorders:

"Every 20 minutes, someone in the UK is diagnosed with blood cancer. For many, the best or only possible treatment option is a blood stem cell transplant.

DKMS provides patients with a second chance at life, working closely with their families from diagnosis to transplant and beyond. The donor journey begins with a swab of the cheek that takes less than two minutes and can be the action that leads to a lifesaving transplant."

DKMS create awareness and recruits blood stem cell donors to provide people with a second chance at life.  They raise funds to cover donor registration costs, and support the improvement of blood cancer therapies through their own research.

They also support patients from day one of their diagnosis, providing family and friends with a positive way to get involved by organising bone marrow donor drives that can enhance the donor search, rally community support and provide hope.

If you would like to register as a potential donor you can do this via the following link:

BECOME A POTENTIAL DONOR - CLICK HERE

Members of DKMS will be attending the Barclays Knutsford 10k to answer any questions you may have, and to take samples from anyone wishing to become a potential donor.

OFFICIAL RACE CHARITY PARTNER

Finally, from all of us at the Run North West Team we just wanted to thank you again for all of your support and we look forward to seeing you on the start line of the Barclays Knutsford 10K!
