We provide an In-Store or Online Gait Analysis
Gait analysis is very important as it will reduce your risk of common running injuries. Most runners will present after a short 30 second treadmill analysis as either needing a support or neutral running shoe. Our experienced team will then advise you on which shoes will work best for you. Additionally the fit and feel of a shoe is crucial which is why trying shoes on is so important in finding the right match for you. Our team is made up of experienced runners who compete at various levels but all have one thing in common, a love and passion for running and a desire to contribute and improve the local running community, encouraging many first time runners through our events and retail store. We offer an extensive range of running trainers, performance clothing and accessories with complimentary gait analysis available to help you pick out the best running shoe for your needs.
In store
Wear shorts/cropped pants or leggings that allow us to see the shape and outline of your ankle.
To the appointment. This is so that we can see what you are running in, and for you to feel the difference. You only need to bring 1 pair, please do not bring any more that this.
We will have you on the treadmill for the assessment, after this you may be on and off the treadmill or running outside our store to test out a few pairs.
Online Gait Analysis
Whilst an online gait analysis is helpful in making a recommendation, no online platform can replicate the analysis instore and we always advice customers that in store is the most thorough option. We can also talk through your needs either by email or telephone, so do just get in touch if you prefer!
STEP 1 Capturing THE FOOTAGE
Wear shorts or roll your trousers mid-way up. Ensure your socks are smooth i.e. no gather points.
Approximately 15 inches behind the treadmill and about 5 inches off the ground. Ensure the camera is centered.
For the gait analysis as this will help our team to accurately read your gait.
Of yourself running on the treadmill. Mimic your outdoor running pace.
STEP 2 EMAILING THE VIDEO
Submit your video in one of the following file formats: avi, mov, mpeg, or wmv.
If the file size is too large, use an online file transfer service (e.g., wetransfer.com) to send the video to run@runnorthwest.co.uk.
For the gait analysis as this will help our team to accurately read your gait.
STEP 3 ANALYSIS
Once we’ve received your video our team of experts will analyse the footage and assess your gait to measure your level of pronation and identify any biomechanical inefficiencies. We slow the footage down and analyse it frame by frame to determine if you’re an overpronator, a neutral runner or if you underpronate.
We also offer gait analysis in store free of charge with no need to book in advance (if you do wish to book here)
STEP 4 Feedback & Support
Having assessed the footage our team will then feedback their findings, including an analysis of your gait along with recommendations as to the best type of running shoe for your gait and any other relevant feedback. If you’d like to chat to us further regarding your assessment you can chat to us in store on +44 (0)1625 528 887.
In no event will we be liable for any loss or damage in connection with the use of this service. If in doubt please consult your GP before taking part in any exercise and the use of a treadmill and setting up a camera behind the treadmill should be done in a safe manor and if applicable with consideration to other gym users.
