Southport Seaside 10K now has a brand new route incorporating The Pier and Pleasureland!
We are delighted to announce that the course for this years race on Sunday 4th September has been updated and we think much improved.

The brand new course is now only 1 lap starting outside Pleasureland and incorporates Southport Pier at Kilometres 5 & 6 - the second longest pier in England!

The updates to this fantastically flat and fast course mean that as well as it being more scenic it eliminates the need for race leaders to overtake on the second lap.

Race HQ will be moving to the newly refurbished Pleasureland which has a brand new Ferris Wheel and Viking Crazy Golf amongst other great attractions! This is a fantastic opportunity for a fun day out with family or friends as well as enjoying the 10K race.

Entry to the race will include access to Pleasureland for up to 4 people (usual price £10 per person - this gives access to the facilities of Pleasureland i.e. toilets, refreshments etc for the entire day but NOT to go on rides).  Wristbands will be given at number collection, which will be available either from our Wilmslow store 2-3 weeks prior to the race; on the Saturday at Pleasureland Entrance; or on race day.

You also have a fantastic opportunity to purchase rider wristbands for Pleasureland at a HUGE 50% DISCOUNTED PRICE OF £14.95 per person.  A code will be given to you in the confirmation email of your entry if you would like to make a fun day of it 🎢*

Numbers will be available for advanced collection from our store in the 2-3 weeks leading up to the race, and available to collect the day before the race at the Pleasureland main entrance and on the day at Race HQ. 

On the day instructions/the Race Booklet will be emailed to you approximately 2 weeks before the event and will contain full race day information.

COURSE
The race starts on Marine Drive, heading towards Fairway and is now a 1 lap course. Taking in the model railway, Silcock’s fun land, Pleasureland and the pier. As part of the new course you now get to run along the pier (the 2nd longest in England!) during KM's 5 and 6. With only 75ft of elevation, and closed roads along Marine Drive, it promises to be a fast and fun course.

This race is ran on partially closed roads and pavements. The course has been measured and is certified to be an accurate 10K course | course number 19/499.

 

 

PRIZES 🏆

Presentations will take place straight after the race for top 3 male and female finishers based on gun times.  Vet prizes will be sent out in the post and based on chip times.

All prizes are equal for male and females, Vet age group categories are from V35 to V80+ in 5-year increments plus the first U20 (one prize per individual, male and female).

The closest train station/tram stop (on foot) to Race HQ is Southport which is 0.9 miles away from Race HQ.

Where possible please car share 🚗 to ease congestion, traffic and help save the environment 🌍!

You have many car parking options in Southport, some are chargeable, please consult the App parkopedia for options. We will give more details on parking in the pre event race information emailed to you around 10 days before the event.

OFFICIAL RACE CHARITY
Our official race charity partner is DKMS, a charity dedicated to fight against blood cancer and blood disorders:

"Every 20 minutes, someone in the UK is diagnosed with blood cancer. For many, the best or only possible treatment option is a blood stem cell transplant.

DKMS provides patients with a second chance at life, working closely with their families from diagnosis to transplant and beyond. The donor journey begins with a swab of the cheek that takes less than two minutes and can be the action that leads to a lifesaving transplant."

DKMS create awareness and recruits blood stem cell donors to provide people with a second chance at life.  They raise funds to cover donor registration costs, and support the improvement of blood cancer therapies through their own research.

They also support patients from day one of their diagnosis, providing family and friends with a positive way to get involved by organising bone marrow donor drives that can enhance the donor search, rally community support and provide hope.

FAMILY FUN RUN (APPROX 1 MILE)

Our chosen charity is DKMS. A donation of the proceeds from the Family Fun Run, will go to the charity.

Entries are £7.50 per person and include a medal to all finishers. The Family Fun Run will start at 8:45am and will finish before the main 10K event. Numbers are collection on the day only.

Minimum age 4 years old, children who are unable to manage the run safely on their own without assistance, must be accompanied by an adult.

ECO WATER 🥤
In a conscious effort to reduce our carbon footprint ♻ and do our bit to save the planet 🌍, we have introduced a bring your own water bottle (pre-filled) to place at the finish area for the end of the race. Completely optional, but every person who brings their own bottle of water is helping to save the planet one small step at a time.

Bottled water will be provided, as usual, for anyone who doesn’t bring their own. We do use a responsible supplier for our water (as well as being ZERO to landfill), their bottles are made out of 51% recycled plastic and are 100% recyclable.
