Run North West is delighted to present the return of the highly popular Wilmslow festive 10k road race on a completely traffic free, point-to-point course. Starting in the town centre of Wilmslow and finishing at the same location as the popular Waters Wilmslow Half Marathon. Predominately flat, the course delivers fast times for club and fun runners alike.

The scenic route heads out of Wilmslow along Knutsford Road before looping back round to Burleyhurst Lane and finishing on Mobberly Road.

Following our successful inaugural events, Run North West continues to offer you the chance to run new and varied courses, whilst answering the demand for more choice in quality, value for money races, offering the very best possible on the day experience.

Run North West wanted to find the perfect sized town to hold a fast 10k. The ideal route needed to be part town, part rural with enough free easy parking to accommodate a few thousand participants. After considering many, the perfect location was right on the doorstep of our HQ and so the Wilmslow 10k was born.

Wilmslow is a town in Cheshire, that is 11 miles south of Manchester. The area close to similarly affluent Alderley Edge, is known for its upmarket lifestyle and its many rich and famous residents. Importantly for Run North West, it is also surrounded by flat leafy roads. It also has very good motorway links across the North West allowing a quick journey early on a Sunday morning.

The race starts at 9:30am and the scenic route heads out of Wilmslow along Knutsford Road before looping back round to Burleyhurst Lane and finishing on Sandy Lane. Predominately flat, the course promises fast times for club and fun runners alike.

We have a full UK Athletics Road License – 2017-30298.

Runners are also encouraged to get into the Christmas spirit with fancy dress optional on the day and we’re pleased to announce the official race day partner as The Christie charity giving runners the opportunity to raise funds for this fantastic cause or alternatively leave a toy at our Cash for Kids toy drop service offered at Wilmslow Leisure Centre, our Race HQ.

Run North West has been created to offer club and fun runners the chance to run new and varied races answering the demand for more choice in mass participation races whilst offering the very best in on the day experience.

Prizes will be awarded to the top three male and female runners, with prizes in all main age group categories. Additionally every runner who completes the course will receive a bespoke medal. Course record bonus of £500 for the male and females records broke on the day.

£19.50 unattached & £17.50 attached

Please note: Wilmslow 10k will start in Wilmslow town centre and we will provide a complimentary bus at the start area to take spectators to the finish, which is a mile away. Buses will also be available at the finish area to take runners and spectators back to the town centre for those who don’t wish to jog or walk back.

The Wilmslow 10k course offers runners the perfect mix of flat running, scenic scenery and with it’s town centre location a fantastic atmosphere to help you enjoy your 10k experience. The course is fully closed to all traffic at all times during the event.

The course starts in Wilmslow town centre outside Hoopers and Pizza Express, heading South West along Knutsford Road, passing through the leafy residential streets of Wilmslow, with a lightening quick first 5k setting you up perfectly for a personal best attempt.

The rural section of the course offers excellent scenery of the Cheshire Countryside before winding its way back to the finish on Mobberly Road with just one hill within the 8th km to test your strength.

The final 1km takes in the same finishing route as the popular Wilmslow Half Marathon with 400m and 200m to go signs in place helping you time that sprint finish to perfection!

Car Parking is available throughout Wilmslow, with many of the towns car parks free to runners on Sunday mornings. Event Safety

In order to maintain our excellent record of safety and ensure runners enjoy their morning with Run North West we kindly ask you read the below safety instructions and observe traffic regulations and marshal requests on the day of the event.

Although we will carry out a course inspection on the morning of the race please be mindful on the course of trip hazards including pot holes, uneven road surfaces, cats eyes, gradient of the road, fatigue, contact from other competitors, shoe laces, leaves & branches, slippery surfaces including oil and fuel and obstacles such as parked cars, traffic signs and litter.

Given the rural location of the course, although very unlikely please be aware of the potential risk of horses and livestock on the course.

For your safety we will have volunteer marshals at every km (please thank them if you can!) and marshals at all road junctions on the course, as well as security staff at major junctions on the day.

Marshals will also be present to assist with parking on the day both in town centre (Wilmslow 10k) and Royal London. When walking to and from the finish please stick to pavements and crossing points as road closures won’t be in place during this time. A pavement is available back to Wilmslow from the finish of the Wilmslow 10k as well as free shuttle buses for your convenience.
