Welcome to Run North West’s Training Plan page

A place where we will share our training knowledge and advice to prepare you for that all important race day! Our team of friendly local club runners, run leaders/coaches and elite athletes will be bringing you their advice, ideas and their own sessions and training plans.

Our colleague and 2:10 marathon runner, Jonny Mellor, brings you this 10K training plan 📑. Ideal for those wanting to increase their distance or improve their times.

Jonny has ran the Olympic qualifying time for the marathon distance, he achieved a time of 2:10:03 at Seville in February 2020 and 2:10:38 at London in October 2020 – making him the British Marathon Champion in 2020.  Jonny hopes to be selected for competition at the 2021 Olympics to be held in Tokyo 🏅.
