Our junior stars at Run North West

There are many good reasons businesses may consider employing athletes, especially within specialist running retail. As well as demonstrating an expert knowledge when it comes to all things running, athletes show a willingness to be part of a team, they’re students of the sport, hardworking and above else love what they do.

All of our team at Run North West regularly run, from weekly parkrun’s to competing on the international stage, it’s what we love and why we enjoy sharing our expert knowledge and advice with the running community.

As part of our growing team at Run North West, we are proud to support some of the regions brightest talents.

Former English Schools Champion Natasha Harrison of Stockport Harriers has recently joined our sales team and is currently ranked third over 400m in the UK u20 standings and has already won gold at the Northern Championships and bronze at the England Athletics Championships over 400m this summer.

Francesca Brint might be a new face to our Wilmslow store but already as an u20 she has achieved so much in the sport. Francesca was selected to represent Great Britain at the IAAF u20 World Championships in Finland in 2018 over 1500m and the Sale Harrier also finished a fantastic fourth in the u20 National Cross Country Championships.

Birmingham University student Louisa Whittingham has a personal best of 36:44 for 10,000m set finishing sixth at the British Universities Championship. Louisa who works in our brand new Wilmslow store recently won our Alderley Park Trail Race and finished seventh at the England Athletics Championships in Bedford over 5,000m.

Akkeal Chambers combines working full time at our Hyde store with his own athletic endeavours. The 21-year old recently ran a personal best over 1500m of 4:03 and 15:20 for 5k representing Altrincham & District.

Hot on Akkeal’s toes is Altrincham team mate Dan Racle. Dan who studies at Loughborough University has a best of 15:30 for 5,000m and works as part of our sales team across both stores.

Alex Sutton was part of our opening team at Hyde in 2018 and is also a very talented runner representing Reading AC. The Manchester University student has a best of 4:03 for 1500m and 2:01 for 800m.

A regular at Wilmslow parkrun, Dan Bundred combines his studies at Oxford University with part time work at our Wilmslow store. Dan has a personal best of 16:03 for 5,000m and recently finished third at the Wizard 5.

Brad Freeman is our resident Asics Frontrunner and works part time at Hyde as well as playing an important role at our pop up retail stores. The Stockport Harrier has been known to get up at 2am for breakfast and leave to run for an event at 4am to get his long run in! Now that’s what you call dedication.

To enable our runners to for fill their athletic potential we offer flexible working hours and time off to travel for races and training camps.

For example Eli Kirk our Welsh Commonwealth Games marathon runner who trains with Team New Balance Manchester and works in our Hyde store will often commence a shift at 12pm allowing her time to train in the morning before coming into work.

Our marketing colleague Jonny Mellor is currently hard at work training for Berlin Marathon in September and clocking up to 120-miles per week and does a lot of his hours from home allowing him to train, recover and travel to compete. Jonny who also runs for Team New Balance Manchester will head off to Switzerland shortly for a 4-week stint of high altitude training in St Moritz ahead of Berlin at the end of September where he hopes to run inside the Olympic Qualifying time of 2:11:30.
