Run North West are delighted to bring to you the brand-new Alderley Park Trail Race, which takes place within the beautiful grounds of Alderley Park – set in 400 acres of historic parkland, with a rare arboretum, lakes and a water garden.

Alderley Park, a development by Bruntwood SciTech, is home to a world class science facility dedicated to discovery and new ideas. It’s a base for progressive businesses, rich in new thinking. A place for dynamic modern living, with new homes, shops, a gastropub and sports facilities, at the heart of a new community.

Discover hidden trails and woodland paths on our special route, contrasting with spectacular views of Alderley Park. Consisting of trail, grass, tarmac and gravel the route is perfect for first time trail runners and experienced off-roaders. The route is approximately 5.3-miles long and consists of undulating terrain on a 2-lap course. See below for some images of the fantastic course. Our Run North West pop-up shop, along with catering and a pop-up bar will follow after the event – so please join us for refreshments after the race with your running friends.

Alderley Park Trail Race is the second trail event organised by Run North West following the success of the Quarry Bank Trail Race in August 2018.

How far is it? 2019-05-13T18:18:20+00:00

The course is approximately 5.3-miles in duration. The beauty of trail running is you can enjoy running in the countryside without needing to worry about times and splits so the distance is only approximate. Please note that GPS devices could vary during the event due to the amount of the course ran underneath the cover of trees within the woodland area of the course.

We will close entries as soon as we have reached our limit of 500. Late entries, including on the night entries will be accepted if the event limit of 500 has not been reached.

Can I raise money for charity? 2019-05-02T14:21:48+00:00

Of course! We encourage runners to run for charity at all of our events. £1 of every entry is donated to the Bruntwood Charity but if you’d like to raise money for a charity of your choice that’s great.

Event safety 2019-05-02T14:20:11+00:00

In order to maintain our excellent record of safety and ensure runners enjoy their evening with Run North West we kindly ask you read the below safety instructions and observe traffic regulations and marshal requests on the day of the event.

Although we will carry out a course inspection on the afternoon of the race please be mindful on the course of trip hazards including tree routes, branches, uneven surface, gradient of the terrain, steps, shoe laces, pot holes, uneven road surfaces, cats eyes, fatigue, contact from other competitors, shoe laces, slippery surfaces including leaves and mud and obstacles such as parked cars, traffic signs and litter.

Given the location of the course, please be aware of dog walkers and other pedestrians during the race. The estate will remain open to the general public during the event although marshals will be on hand to guide you during the event.

Marshals will also be present to assist with parking on the day.

Do I need to visit the doctor before taking part? 2019-05-02T14:20:49+00:00

Although not essential, should you be in any doubt and for your own safety we recommend contacting your local GP to ensure you’re fit to run.

Can I wear headphones? 2019-05-02T14:24:46+00:00

We would strongly advise against using headphones. Using headphones can be dangerous because it distracts people and can make them unaware. We occasionally will need to direct you or may need to get emergency vehicles onto the course and may need runners to hear instructions from marshals to assist with this.

Can I get lost? 2019-05-02T14:24:53+00:00

Hopefully not! The course will be well marshalled, sign posted and marked throughout to help you along the way.

I can no longer run can I defer my entry until next year? 2019-05-02T14:25:07+00:00

Unfortuntly due to the substancial costs in staging an event we cannot defer entries although we provide a number transfer system via Nifty Entries. Just log into nifty entries and click enter the race, then you will see a transfer my entry option.

I haven’t received my entry confirmation? 2019-05-02T14:25:23+00:00

If you entered online you will receive a confirmation email shortly afterwards. If this did not happen please contact us to help resolve the issue. We also recommend checking your junk as unfortunately they can often end up here! We will also contact all runners nearer the race date with final race instructions.

Does it matter how slow I am? 2019-05-02T14:26:16+00:00

Of course not! We welcome runners with a wide range of running abilities from beginners to experienced club runners.

What time do you need to arrive? 2019-05-02T14:26:30+00:00

Competitors should arrive approximately one hour to 45-minutes before the start of the race.

What is the minimum age to take part? 2019-09-16T17:48:36+00:00

The minimum age for our trail race is currently 16-years in accordance with UKA rules.

Do you have chip timing? 2019-05-02T14:30:19+00:00

The race will be electronically chip timed provided by Nifty Entries. A manual timing system will also be in operation for back up reasons. Upon completion of the event you will receive a text message with your time.

All race positions are decided on gun times (this being the time from the start of the race to the time you cross the finishing line) however chip times (this records the time taken from when you cross the start line to when you cross the finish line) will also be displayed. In the event of a prize winner having a faster gun time to chip time then the gun time would take precedence. We will display chip and gun times on the official results.

Do you have any terms and conditions? 2019-05-02T14:30:25+00:00

Yes, you can also find a copy of our event terms and conditions on the Nifty Entires event page.
