Close to two thousand runners took on the Alderley Edge 10k on Sunday morning, which was the fourth running of the popular event.
Starting outside the grounds of Royal London, runners enjoyed the rare and unique opportunity to run the Alderley Edge bypass passing through the scenic Cheshire countryside, with participants joining the celebrations from across the UK. Live entertainment was provided along the route with runners encouraged to sing and dance their way to a personal best!
The race was won by Welsh athlete Charlie Hulson (Liverpool Harriers), who broke the tape in a fantastic 30-minutes and 27-seconds ahead of second place Karl Darcy (30:49) of Salford Harriers, with Hulson’s teammate Danny Cliffe (31:35) completing the top three.
Cara Davies (Salford Harriers) was victorious in the women’s race, crossing the line in 36:04, followed by Ellesmere Port duo Joanna Marsden (37:39) and Sara Avery (38:36) in second and third respectively.
The event supported Millie’s Foundation, with over 150 runners in the 1-mile family run raising vital funds for this incredible charity. With pop up retail sales, sports massage thanks to Harris & Ross, a kids fun bus, face painting and a local fire engine there was plenty for the whole family to enjoy in the event village located on the grounds of Royal London.
Following the event Run North West who have recently opened their second retail store in Wilmslow announced a new date for the race in 2020 as well as launching a new event, the Wilmslow Summer 10k.
