Not long to go now until our super popular Trafford 10K!  One of the UK’s quickest 10K’s for club runners, with elites travelling from all over Europe to run this super-fast course.
 
This race information email includes everything you need to know about the start, finish, number collection, parking and much more.
 
Race numbers are now available for collection from our Run North West Wilmslow Store (SK9 1HG, Free Parking) or can be picked up on the morning from our Race HQ.

The one lap course is perfect for fast times ran on scenic country roads starting and finishing in Partington near to Manchester. The route heads towards Dunham Massey before returning back towards Partington. This course has huge amounts of PB potential!

Entries are still open but the race is very close to being full so if you have any friends of family who would like to enter make sure they do so asap.

WELCOME - IMPORTANT RACE DAY INFORMATION

Thank you for joining us at our Trafford 10K 2021, we can't wait for you to join us for a one lap, super fast course on scenic country roads.
 
 Whilst we are happily out of COVID restrictions, please be assured we still have some policies in place in order to minimise the risk and keep everyone safe.

RACE START INFORMATION

 The start is on Chapel Lane, on the right-hand side as you exit the leisure centre. Please do not head to the start pens until the road has been closed and the pens opened – after 9:00am. 
 
It is important you slot into your correct time zone (predicted finish time) so that it does not cause any congestion, our pacers will be on hand at each pen entrance to make sure you are going into the correct pen. Please be realistic, for your own safety and of those around you! 
 
Please make sure you are prepared, warmed up and on the start line by 9:20am to get into the correct time pen and catch the important pre-race briefing. It is imperative that everyone listens to the pre-race briefing, we kindly request your attention and silence so that all runners can hear important announcements. Announcements will be made throughout the morning by the race commentator.

Race HQ is in the sports hall of Partington Sports Village and will be open from 7:45am. Within this area you will find the number collection, bag drop, sports massage and much more! 
 
TRAVEL TO THE RACE
 
Bike
There are bike storage areas at Partington Sports Village. 
 
Public Transport
The closest train station/tram stop (on foot) to Race HQ is Flixton 3.6 miles. 
 
Car and parking facilities 
Use postcode M31 4ES
On arrival follow the carpark marshals instructions. 
 
The race is easily accessed from both junction 8 of the M60 and junction 7 of the M56.  From junction 8 of the M60, follow the A6144 sign posted Carrington. Drive through Carrington and continue on the A6144 until you reach Partington. There are 2 race carparks, please follow the parking instructions. 
 
There is no parking at the leisure centre, this area is used to accommodate the race finish and volunteer parking. To ease congestion and save the environment, please car share wherever possible. Perhaps gather a group of friends, clubmates or offer car spaces on our social event page.
 
Postcode M31 4ES will lead you towards the leisure centre. Marshals will be available to direct you to a carpark, do follow their instructions as they are all linked by radio and know when a carpark is full. Please park in the next available space so that no gaps are left causing wasted parking spaces. 
 
If you do park in a residential area, please park respectfully and do not block any drives/access. 
 
Carpark 1
Within Broadoak school, just off the A6144 Warburton Road.  This carpark is approximately 200m from the start.
 
Carpark 2 
Located on Moss Lane, Partington just near the junction of Russell Road. This carpark is 800m from the start.
To get to the leisure centre follow the tarmac path which brings you out onto Chapel Lane. 
As both carparks are likely to fill up quickly please also consider parking on the residential roads nearby.
 
NUMBER COLLECTION
Race numbers are now available for collection from our Run North West Wilmslow Store (2 St Ann's Parade. SK9 1HG) and can be picked up on the morning from our Race HQ from 7:45am.

TRANSFERS
If you can no longer make the race and need to transfer your entry to someone else you can do this via your original confirmation email or through your nifty entry log-in.  Transfers are free of charge and any monies transferring hands needs to be a direct agreement between the two parties.  Transfers will close at Midnight, Saturday 18th September.

VIRTUAL RACE OPTION
If you would prefer to run the Trafford 10K virtually, we have created a virtual option to allow you to still get involved, run the 10K virtually and earn yourself our iconic medal!

To opt for the virtual race, an email will be sent out early next week (please check your junk if you don't received this) with an option for you to switch your entry to this if you wish to.

PLEASE NOTE: If you take the option to transfer into the virtual race, you will NOT have an entry to run the 2021 Trafford 10K.  This virtual option is INSTEAD of joining us on race day.

NUMBERS
Numbers must be attached to the front of your vest, please do not fold/cut/deface it in anyway. The timing chip is attached to the back of your number and is detected when you cross the start and the finish. Please do not run around the outside of the mat area or your time will not be recorded.
 
Please also take the time to fill in your emergency contact details on the reverse of the number prior to running, in the unfortunate event of an emergency, these can help medics to treat you swiftly and appropriately.
 
Please DO NOT run is someone else’s number as it is against UKA rules, it can cause problems with the results and could also cause a lot of distress should there be an incident and the wrong family are contacted. 
 
TOILETS
There are a few toilets located within the leisure centre, including accessible toilets. To ease congestion for the queues and to facilitate the number of runners there will be portable toilets located outside the leisure centre. We do encourage runners to use the portable toilets as space inside the leisure centre is limited.

COURSE
This is a one lap course which heads towards Dunham Massey before returning back towards Partington.
All roads are fully closed but in the case of an emergency vehicles may need to access the course, please ensure that you are able to hear marshal instructions and follow their direction.  
There is a working farm en-route, if any of the animals come into distress during labour the Jones Family will need to get from the farm to the field. They are aware the race is underway and will only leave during an emergency, where they will take the safety of the runners into consideration if they need to leave their farm, they will have their hazard lights on and make room for runners. 
The course has been measured and is certified to be an accurate 10k course | course number 18/079. 

ELEVATION MAP
PACERS
 We will have a pacer every 5 minutes from 35-75 minutes to help you to your PB goals!

MUSIC PLAYERS/HEADPHONES
Personal music players or headphones are not permitted during the race, as this can restrict your ability to hear safety instructions from marshals or unexpected events.

MEDICAL SERVICES
First aid is situated at various points along the course. Should you feel unwell during the race please let your nearest marshal know so we can arrange for medics to get to you as soon as possible. If you come across anyone injured or in distress, please report it to the nearest marshal who will be in contact with our event team and our first aid providers. First aid is also available at the start and finish areas.
 
Please also fill in your personal details section on the reverse of your race number. This greatly assists the medical staff, should you require first aid or medical treatment!

WATER & ECO WATER 🥤
In a conscious effort to reduce our carbon footprint and do our bit to save the planet, we have introduced a bring your own water bottle (pre-filled) to place at the finish area for the end of the race. Completely optional, but every person who brings their own bottle of water is helping to save the planet one small step at a time.

Bottled water will be provided, as usual, for anyone who doesn’t bring their own. We do use a responsible supplier for our water (as well as being ZERO to landfill), their bottles are made out of 51% recycled plastic and are 100% recyclable.
 
PHOTOGRAPHY & VIDEOGRAPHY
Our race day pictures will be free to download and captured by Mick Hall Photos.  Our videographer will be with us on the day to capture an event video. 
 
As soon as the pictures and videos are available we will post an update on our social media pages. Do bear with us as there will be lots to edit, they are usually available the day after the race.
 
RESULTS
Timing and results will be available at www.runnorthwest.co.uk as soon as possible after the race has finished, simply go to the Trafford 10K race page and click on the link. If you entered your mobile number into your entry details you should receive a text as you cross the finish line.
 
After the results are published, if you spot any issues or errors please contact Nifty Entries our results provider by clicking on the “query a result button”, or contact run@runnorthwest.co.uk where we will put you in touch with Nifty Entries.

FINISHER MEDAL & OPTIONAL T-SHIRT
All runners will receive our iconic Run North West Medal.  Any t-shirts that have been pre-purchased will also be available for pick up on the day please go to our Run North West Race HQ gazebo to collect this.

2022 TRAFFORD 10K RACE
An early bird for the Trafford 10K 2022 Race will launch at 12 noon on race day for 48 hours so keep your eyes peeled to take advantage of this fantastic deal!
OFFICIAL RACE CHARITY
We are proud to support Trafford South Foodbank who help local people in crisis, ensuring they have access to emergency food supplies and appropriate support.
There will be a Foodbank donation point on race day, please do bring a tin of food to donate.  We have compiled a list of items below that would be particularly helpful to bring, as well as a list of items that the foodbank have plenty of, please do not bring these items. If possible, please bring your donations in a bag or box. Thank you in advance for any donations.

KNUTSFORD 10K

Run North West are delighted to bring you THE BRAND NEW Knutsford 10K Race!  With entries already high and over 2000, make sure you enter while we still have places on this super fast and flat course!

The race starts within the grounds of Barclays Radbroke Technology Centre, then heads out onto the country lanes of Over Peover, Snelson and Peover Heath, before returning to Barclays Radbroke campus.

The race is ran on beautiful country lanes, all fully closed to traffic and we believe this will prove to be one of the fastest 10K races in the North West, with only 77ft of elevation across the entire course. The course overall is super flat with a modest incline at around 2K but then the course drifts down hill from 6K-8K. The rest is pancake flat so fantastic PB potential!
