Not long to go now until the Southport Seaside 10K!  We can't wait for you to join us for a fun filled race along the seafront and promenade at Southport!
 
This race information email includes everything you need to know about the start, finish, number collection, parking and much more.
 
Race numbers are now available for collection from our Run North West Wilmslow Store (SK9 1HG, Free Parking) or can be picked up on the morning from our Race HQ.  We will also have a Saturday afternoon number collection in Southport (see number collection below for full details).

The race is 2 laps around Marine Lake and Ocean Plaza, taking in the model railway, Silcock’s fun land, PleasureLand and the pier. With only 75ft of elevation, and closed roads along Marine Drive, it promises to be a fast and fun course.

Entries are still open if you have any family or friends who would like to enter but the race is filling up fast so make sure they enter now.

WELCOME - IMPORTANT RACE DAY INFORMATION

Thank you for joining us at our Southport Seaside 10K 2021, we can't wait for you to join us for a fun filled race along the seafront and promenade at Southport!

RACE START INFORMATION
The race will start at 9:30am on Marine Drive, a 5 minute walk from Race HQ (please see the map above for the exact location), heading towards Ocean Plaza and is a 2-lap course, taking in the model railway, Silcock’s fun land, Pleasure Land and the pier. With only 75ft of elevation, and closed roads along Marine Drive, it promises to be a fast and fun course.

Race HQ is on Princes Park adjacent to Ocean Plaza and Pleasure Land.  The race finish will also be on the same park which can be viewed on the map above.

The fun run will take place before the main race at 8.45am from the same start as the main 10K race on Marine Drive.  Please note numbers are pick up on the day only, further details on the fun run can be found below.

 Whilst we are happily out of COVID restrictions, please be assured we still have some policies in place in order to minimise the risk and keep everyone safe.

TRAVEL TO THE RACE

Bike
There are bike storage racks situated outside the Ocean Plaza Brewers Fayre Pub.

Public Transport
The closest train station/tram stop (on foot) to Race HQ is Southport which is 0.9 miles away from Race HQ.

Car and parking facilities
There are many car parking options in Southport, some are chargeable, the Esplanade car park (PR8 1RR)  is available at a special reduced price of £2 on the day, this is a pay on entry carpark so please have £2 cash ready to avoid queues (cash only).  
For a full list of parking options please go to Parkopedia.  If you study this website you will find some free parking in Southport for up to 3 hours.
NUMBER COLLECTION
Race numbers are now available for collection from our Run North West Wilmslow Store (2 St Ann's Parade. SK9 1HG) and can be picked up on the morning from our Race HQ.  We will also have a Saturday afternoon collection (the day before the race) in Southport on Princes Park (the Race Day HQ), look out for the Run North West Gazebo.  This is from 1-5pm and is adjacent to the parking at Ocean Plaza.

TRANSFERS
If you can no longer make the race and need to transfer your entry to someone else you can do this via your original confirmation email or through your nifty entry log-in.  Transfers are free of charge and any monies transferring hands needs to be a direct agreement between the two parties.  Transfers will close at Midnight, Saturday 4th September.

NUMBERS
Numbers must be attached to the front of your vest, please do not fold/cut/deface it in anyway. The timing chip is attached to the back of your number and is detected when you cross the start and the finish. Please do not run around the outside of the mat area or your time will not be recorded.
 
Please also take the time to fill in your emergency contact details on the reverse of the number prior to running, in the unfortunate event of an emergency, these can help medics to treat you swiftly and appropriately.
 
Please DO NOT run is someone else’s number as it is against UKA rules, it can cause problems with the results and could also cause a lot of distress should there be an incident and the wrong family are contacted. 
 
TOILETS
Toilets are available at the Race HQ which is also the finish area (the start is a 5 minute walk away).

COURSE
The race starts on Marine Drive, heading towards Fairway and is a 2-lap course. Taking in the model railway, Silcock’s fun land, Pleasure Land and the pier. With only 75ft of elevation, and closed roads along Marine Drive, it promises to be a fast and fun course.

This race is ran on closed roads and wide pavements (including the promenade). The course has been measured and is certified to be an accurate 10K course | course number 19/499.

PACERS
 We will have a pacer every 5 minutes from 40 - 80 minutes to help you to your PB goals!

MUSIC PLAYERS/HEADPHONES
Personal music players or headphones are not permitted during the race, as this can restrict your ability to hear safety instructions from marshals or unexpected events.

MEDICAL SERVICES
First aid is situated at various points along the course. Should you feel unwell during the race please let your nearest marshal know so we can arrange for medics to get to you as soon as possible. If you come across anyone injured or in distress, please report it to the nearest marshal who will be in contact with our event team and our first aid providers. First aid is also available at the start and finish areas.
 
Please also fill in your personal details section on the reverse of your race number. This greatly assists the medical staff, should you require first aid or medical treatment!

WATER 🥤
Bottled water will be available at the halfway point and finish line of the race.
 
PHOTOGRAPHY & VIDEOGRAPHY
Our race day pictures will be free to download and captured by Mick Hall Photos.  Our videographer will be with us on the day to capture an event video. 
 
As soon as the pictures and videos are available we will post an update on our social media pages. Do bear with us as there will be lots to edit, they are usually available the day after the race.
 
RESULTS
Timing and results will be available at www.runnorthwest.co.uk as soon as possible after the race has finished, simply go to the Southport Seaside 10K race page and click on the link. If you entered your mobile number into your entry details you should receive a text as you cross the finish line.
 
After the results are published, if you spot any issues or errors please contact Nifty Entries our results provider by clicking on the “query a result button”, or contact run@runnorthwest.co.uk where we will put you in touch with Nifty Entries.

FINISHER MEDAL & OPTIONAL T-SHIRT
All runners will receive our iconic Run North West Medal.  Any t-shirts that have been pre-purchased will also be available for pick up on the day please go to our Run North West Race HQ gazebo to collect this.

2022 SOUTHPORT SEASIDE 10K RACE
An early bird for the Southport Seaside 10K 2022 Race will launch at 12 noon on race day for 48 hours so keep your eyes peeled to take advantage of this fantastic deal!
ROY CASTLE FUN RUN (approximately 1 mile)

Our chosen charity is Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation. A donation of the proceeds from the Family Fun Run, will go to the charity!

Entries are £7.00 per person and include a Family Fun Run medal to all finishers. Family Fun Run numbers are collection on the day only. The Family Fun Run will start at 8:45am and have finished before the main 10K event has set off. 

Minimum age 4 years old, children who are unable to manage the run safely on their own without assistance, must be accompanied by an adult.

VIRTUAL RACE OPTION
If you would prefer to run the Southport Seaside 10K virtually, we have created a virtual option to allow you to still get involved, run the 10K virtually and earn yourself our iconic medal!

To opt for the virtual race, an email will be sent out early next week (please check your junk if you don't received this) with an option for you to switch your entry to this if you wish to.

PLEASE NOTE: If you take the option to transfer into the virtual race, you will NOT have an entry to run the 2021 Southport Seaside 10K.  This virtual option is INSTEAD of joining us on race day.
