Public Transport
The closest train stations/tram stop (on foot) to Race HQ is Styal (0.5 miles) and Wilmslow (1.9 miles).

The route is a 1-lap course and approximately 4.5-miles long and consists of undulating terrain, starting and finishing in the main courtyard at Quarry Bank.

After a short hill at the start, the first 1/3 of the course proceeds along country lanes before running adjacent to the runway at Manchester airport on gravel paths for about half a mile. The route then enters the historical Styal woods, passing through a mixture of woodland paths, gravel paths, as well as several sets of steps up and down (make sure you save some energy in the legs for those!). The course will then take you over bridges as you cross beautiful streams, before exiting the woods on a sharp climb and heading towards the finish back at the Courtyard.

Road or trail shoes are suitable for the course and we would particularly advise trail shoes if the days leading up to the race have been extremely wet. This is a highly varied course and participants should be careful due to many different trip hazards such as tree routes, steps, uneven ground etc.

If you can no longer make the race and need to transfer your entry to someone else you can do this via your original confirmation email or through your nifty entry log-in.  Transfers are free of charge and any monies transferring hands needs to be a direct agreement between the two parties.  Transfers will close at 12 Noon on Tuesday 2nd August. Please be very careful if buying or selling an entry on social media as sadly some scams do occur.

Numbers must be attached to the front of your vest, please do not fold/cut/deface it in anyway. The timing chip is attached to the back of your number and is detected when you cross the start and the finish. Please do not run around the outside of the start/finish mat area or your time will not be recorded.

Please also take the time to fill in your emergency contact details on the reverse of the number prior to running, in the unfortunate event of an emergency, these can help medics to treat you swiftly and appropriately.
Please DO NOT run is someone else’s number as it is against UKA rules, it can cause problems with the results and could also cause a lot of distress should there be an incident and the wrong family are contacted.

Toilets are available in the Quarry Bank courtyard.

The use of personal music players or headphones during the race is not permitted, as this can restrict your ability to hear safety instructions from marshals or unexpected events.

First aid is situated at the start/finish and out on the course. Should you feel unwell during the race please let your nearest marshal know so we can arrange for medics to get to you as soon as possible. If you come across anyone injured or in distress, please report it to the nearest marshal who will be in contact with our event team and our first aid providers.
In a conscious effort to reduce our carbon footprint, we have introduced a bring your own water bottle (pre-filled) to place at the finish area for the end of the race.  The finish area is the same point as the start and the tables will be clearly labelled. Completely optional, but every person who brings their own bottle of water is helping to save the planet one small step at a time.

We will also have a water station at the finish line where we will providing water in cups that are recyclable, compostable and bio-degradable.  This means that the cups will have biodegraded by a minimum of 70% within 30 days.
Where possible please leave your belongings in your cars. We have a limited bag drop for anyone cycling or coming by public transport to the race.
Our race day pictures will be free to download and will be linked to your results. You can also use new photo recognition technology to find your pictures.

Our videographer will be with us on the day to capture an event video which will be uploaded to our social media platforms.
As soon as the pictures and videos are available we will post an update on our social media pages. Do bear with us as there will be lots to edit, they are usually available the day after the race.
