Lyme Park Midsummer Trail 10k - Race Day Instructions

Thank you for signing up to join us at the very first Lyme Park Midsummer Trail 10k, we look forward to seeing you at this very popular SOLD OUT event!

We are so excited to provide you with a course as stunning and versatile as this one. The trails and hills of the park are the perfect way to celebrate a midsummer evening taking in the beautiful views and sunset!

Bring your families and friends along with you to enjoy free access to Lyme Park and explore it's incredible grounds. They may even want to wander up to the famous Lyme Park Cage to spectate as you pass! The Timber Yard, which has plenty of outdoor seating, will be open all evening for refreshing drinks, hot food and snacks!

This race information includes everything you need to know about the start, finish, number collection and much more!

Race numbers are NOW available to collect from our Wilmslow store, SK9 1HG (free parking) or they can be picked up on the evening from 6pm.

As an added incentive to collect your number prior to race day, call into our Wilmslow store to pick up your race number, and as a one off you will receive 20% OFF anything purchased instore at that time!

Run North West are proud to support the
National Trust and a contribution from every race entry will go to Lyme Park.

With thanks to Lyme Park National Trust for hosting the Race HQ.

Event location - Lyme Park, Disley, Stockport, SK12 2NR
Race HQ - outside of the Lyme Hall

Car and Parking facilities
Where possible, please car share to ease congestion, traffic and to look after the environment.

Please head to the main car park where marshals will be on hand to guide you into the next available space. There is ample free parking and once parked, you can head up to the race HQ at the Lyme Hall.

Lyme Park has bike storage facilities available which are adjacent to the car park.

Public Transport

Disley Train Station is half a mile from the entrance to Lyme Park. Please check the National Rail website for up to date train times.

The 199 bus service stops on the A6 and runs from Manchester Airport to Buxton. If travelling by bus, please check the Transport for Greater Manchester website for up to date bus schedules.

The race is a 1-lap course within the National Trust grounds of Lyme Park and consists of approximately 10K of running, with 272 metres of elevation gain.  A tougher and longer trail race than our other events with some great elevation and a fully marked and marshalled course, so no navigation required!

The course starts outside the impressive entrance to the main hall and is an undulating 10K with a mixture of grass, trail and road running. Enjoy the sights of Lyme Park and look out for the deer and cattle along the way!

The first mile which is mainly downhill, is followed by a short sharp climb past the infamous Cage with amazing views over Manchester. A one mile flatter section then leads to the second climb which takes you to the race summit and into the woods past The Lantern building.

The second half of the course involves more gentle undulations and downhill sections before descending to the finish at the Timber Yard (only a 100m from the start). Here you will be awarded with one of our iconic medals, this time taking inspiration from The Cage building (see below!), and a bottle of water.

At the finish, you will also find a great outdoor area, with lots of tables, to relax and enjoy hot food and drink from our lovely vendors!

The course is suitable for all abilities and a perfect introduction to a more hilly trail experience for beginners. We would recommend trail shoes although road shoes will also be sufficient depending on the weather in the build up.

Please follow the links below to view our selection of trail shoes and remember to use the code RNW15 for 15% off at checkout (also available instore).

If you can no longer make the race and need to transfer your entry to someone else you can do this via your original confirmation email or through your nifty entry log-in. Transfers are free of charge and any monies transferring hands needs to be a direct agreement between the two parties. Transfers will close at 11.59pm on Tuesday the 21st of June. Please be very careful if buying or selling an entry on social media as sadly some scams do occur.

Numbers must be attached to the front of your vest, please do not fold/cut/deface it in anyway. The timing chip is attached to the back of your number and is detected when you cross the start and the finish. Please do not run around the outside of the start/finish mat area or your time will not be recorded.
Please also take the time to fill in your emergency contact details on the reverse of the number prior to running, in the unfortunate event of an emergency, these can help medics to treat you swiftly and appropriately.
Please DO NOT run in someone else’s number as it is against UKA rules, it can cause problems with the results and could also cause a lot of distress should there be an incident and the wrong family are contacted.

There will be ample free toilets available within Lyme Park.

The Timber Yard (next to the finish line) has plenty of outdoor seating available where you can purchase and enjoy a variety of drinks, hot food and snacks for the duration of the evening.
The use of personal music players or headphones during the race is discouraged, as this can restrict your ability to hear safety instructions from marshals or unexpected events.

First aid is situated at the start/finish and out on the course. Should you feel unwell during the race please let your nearest marshal know so we can arrange for medics to get to you as soon as possible. If you come across anyone injured or in distress, please report it to the nearest marshal who will be in contact with our event team and our first aid providers.

In a conscious effort to reduce our carbon footprint, we have introduced a bring your own water bottle (pre-filled) to place at the finish area for the end of the race. A bottle drop table will be set up for these next to the finish, at the Timber Yard. Completely optional, but every person who brings their own bottle of water is helping to save the planet one small step at a time. You are also welcome to bring a water bottle that can be carried around the course with you, instead of stopping at the halfway water station.

Bottled water will be provided, as usual, for anyone who is unable bring their own. We do use a responsible supplier for our water (as well as being ZERO to landfill), their bottles are made out of recycled plastic and are fully recyclable.

If you use the water provided by us, please make sure to recycle this bottle, either at home or at the marked bins near the finish. Whilst we do check for litter, may we also ask that no bottles are dropped along the course. It is important to protect and preserve this beautiful National Trust property.

Where possible please leave your belongings in your cars. We have a limited bag drop available at the Timber Yard for anyone cycling or coming by public transport to the race.

Located at both the start and finish, the Run North West store team will be there with a pop-up shop for all your running essentials! This will include runner belts, gels, bars, race clips, and more!

We will have photographers with us on the evening and race day pictures will be free to download from our Lyme Park Events Page.
As soon as the pictures are available we will post an update on our social media pages. Do bear with us as there will be lots to edit, they are usually available the day after the race.

Timing and results will be available on our Lyme Park Events Page as soon as possible after the race has finished, simply click on the link. If you entered your mobile number into your entry details you should receive a text as you cross the finish line.
After the results are published, if you spot any issues or errors please contact Nifty Entries our results provider by clicking on the “query a result button”, or contact where we will put you in touch with Nifty Entries.

All finishers will receive a collectable Run North West Bespoke Medal. For this race, we have the famous Lyme Park Cage and we cannot wait to hand them to you at the finish!

Look out for an early bird deal for the 2023 Lyme Park Midsummer 10k (20th of June). The offer will launch on the evening of this years event for 48 hours only

Whilst we are happily out of Covid-19 restrictions, please be assured we still have some policies in place in order to minimise the risk and keep everyone safe.

We recommend taking a lateral flow test if you are experiencing any Covid-19 symptoms prior to race day.
